Turn-based titles have been around since the apparition of video games themselves. However, the developers of Hard West for Mac fused the genre in a combination like no other. They placed Hard West Mac OS X in a Western setting and added supernatural elements to it. The result is spectacular and worthy of any serious gamer’s time. Since the action takes place in the Old West, all the “normal” activities are in play. A bank robbery here and there, maybe even a lynch from time to time, everything is on the table. And where there is gold, there must be a Gold Rush. But the lives of the folks trying to get by are under the influence of nefarious entities.

Death and even the Devil have an effect on what and how people do. More creatures of the netherworld that you may encounter are zombies, spirits, and the occasional demon. The main activities that you can take part in while playing Hard West Mac OS X are battles or exploring. In the former, each character spends action points to either shot or move on the board. The players can also take cover behind obstructions that will protect against a certain amount of incoming damage. While not in a combat situation, the player can freely move around the map and take various actions.

You can interact with characters, hire some of them to join your gang and even engage in trading. Many games in the genre use random events that can change the tide of a battle. However, Hard West Mac OS X does away with this and replaces it with Luck. When a character’s luck is gone, a shot will always hit its mark. A reaction shot is also introduced in this turn-based strategy game for Mac. There is no protection against such a shot so make sure you protect your characters in advance.
