Then the game was called a cinematic adventure with stealth and action elements in the world of dystopia and retro-futurism. In 2019, the studio released a prologue that is largely in line with its earlier promises. An incredibly beautiful, intriguing story in a curious setting has attracted the interest of many and has become one of the most anticipated in the indie segment. Backbone Mac OS X is more of a topic-based discourse than a story-driven game, and it certainly isn’t a noir detective story. However, this indie-adventure game for Mac still has a plot. The developers are often accused of cutting it off too abruptly without explaining anything in order to then “cash in” on the sequel, but in fact, all the storylines of each of the characters in Backbone are completely complete. Only the player is shown this not through direct and obvious remarks and gestures, but through hints and visual images. In the last acts, the developers more and more “show” the plot, rather than tell it – and this is best felt in the finale of Howard’s story when we are allowed to see how the game universe works without a word.
